Assignment 2: Research and Practical Project

My character and reasons:
My film was Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, a 1960’s black and white film based on the realism of the streets in Nottingham. A character Albert Finney is a factory worker who wants more to life, with very stylish clothes and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Instantly this drew me to the character and made me want to produce work like this but in a colour and black and white contemporary way.
I could create a fashion story by showing a picture of a model, styled in blazers, shoes and shirts, with the rushed hair brushing and cigarette in his mouth looking like he’s about to go to work. This is a prominent scene in the film. I would also like to incorporate a pub scene, showing that he’s finished work and having some leisure time. To then walking home as it gets darker with a similar set up as the first image but in an alley way, to then standing outside his house ready for the next day. This reflects the purpose of the film too as it’s the realism of a working class male in the UK that still happens today.
