All images are my own, taken on Canon 600D as well as using an external flash to give it a 70’s downtown LA kind of feel, as well as using natural light. All images are edited.
Commute – Took images of my surroundings in an interesting way around Preston whenever I was out and about.
Home – My version of home, a look inside my head and what I see as comforting and as a home rather than your physical house or objects home.
Open Theme – Time – I based this weeks theme on time, as when I was sitting down one night I realized just how much we look at the time, therefore I took images of the time everyday through the week, picking ideas that represented the time of day. As well as slowly destroying the small white clock to demonstrate how over time, things deteriorate.
Street – Street Style – From taking inspiration of I-D’s ‘Straight Ups’, I took to the streets to photography street style of Winter 2015. I focused on young women and texture/layers, which is why in every image theres an element of a scarf, coat etc. I also had them holding a Pentax 35mm film camera so the focus wasn’t on their faces, I really wanted to let them take a photo of me but as it was a film camera it was the costs of the film and development, as well as the risk of the film even coming out in the first place therefore I just left it up to them to hold the camera only.
Doing Time – Work life – Reading through a passage on doing time – work life, I thought about how much I didn’t agree with it and how it didn’t apply to me in any way, therefore I’ve used still life imagery to demonstrate how the majority of the world of everyday people feel, from the stress, feeling like a robot and not being very happy.
Dawn till dusk – Self-portraits to demonstrate from dawn till dusk in Preston of my everyday movements.
Consumerism – As I’m not an anti-consumerist I have decided to focus my work on the voice of another, such as a protester or someone who is against consumerism. I am acting as their promoter to get their points across rather than my own. I have incorporated text into my work to give it a lot more meaning.
This project was definitely something I could do every single day for years to come, I really enjoyed it and I’m honestly quite sad it’s over. I think that I’ve developed a style in the past 56 days as well as gain more passion for picking up my camera on a daily basis. There was definitely days where I couldn’t think of anything or weren’t very motivated but come 11pm I pushed myself to do it. If I was to do this project again I wouldn’t change anything, nothing at all!
